Women’s Empowerment Highlight: Courtney White of Courthouse Couture

My name is Courtney of Courthouse Couture and as my online name suggests, I’m a lawyer who loves fashion. I also want to empower women to look and feel their best. I share my love of fashion, all things work wear, my love of dresses, and the law with my online community.

I have wanted to be a lawyer since elementary school. Clair Huxtable on the Cosby show was a big influence to me as a little girl and a huge motivator to make me want to be a lawyer. Over the years teachers and mentors kept me on the path and I have been a licensed Texas attorney for 14 years. When I was a young lawyer, I felt very constricted on what I could wear and started to play around with color and have fun with my outfits, this led to me starting my Instagram page in 2014. I really started taking my page seriously in 2018 and have continued to enjoy sharing my outfits and more with my online community which has expanded beyond Instagram to TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest and when I have time, my own personal blog.

I have struggled with self-confidence however my blog and amazing mentors along the way have helped me step out of my shell into the woman I am today. I doubted my ability to be an attorney because many felt I was too reserved and quiet; I am so thankful that I ignored those comments and kept going. Social media is a constant test, but I stay motivated by staying true to myself and creating content that is interesting and informative. I also remember my content isn’t for everyone, nor should it be. This keeps me motivated when engagement isn’t as steady or I don’t feel my content is resonating with my audience.

Honestly, I think my age also helps me maintain perspective. Turning 40 helped me realize I cannot do everything or be everything to everyone all the time. I now know that quality over quantity is truly the goal.
